Business Mixes Dough into Pizza and Pastries

food, i love donuts, john’s incredible pizza company, ron and linda jones,

OK, so it’s official: Ron and Linda Jones have a lot of dough.

But before anybody gets out their safecracking tools, know that the Jones’ dough is the kind that’s rolled, shaped and, in their case, turned into pizzas, doughnuts and other goodies. The two own the Victorville franchise of John’s Incredible Pizza Company, and now along with partner Betty Parlet, have branched out into a second food enterprise, I Love Donuts.

“We have really enjoyed the pizza business, and we were looking around for a new concept,” says Ron Jones. “We like doughnuts, so it kind of came about on its own.”

Begun in October 2007, Jones describes I Love Donuts as a cross between Krispy Kreme and Starbucks.

“Half of it is a big, open bay where people can watch the automated doughnut equipment doing its thing, and in the other half you can sit and enjoy coffee from the coffee bar in front of our fireplace. It’s a really nice area.”

And lest you think the pizzas are getting less incredible from lack of attention, John’s is about to undergo a 4,000-square-foot expansion and other improvements in the near future.

Any business relies on word of mouth to get up and running, and also on providing something unique. At I Love Donuts, it’s all about the heart-shaped doughnut, which Jones claims nobody else has.

“That’s kind of our mainstay, but we’re eventually going to be doing pizza out of here,” Jones says. “We’re doing grinders already, so it’ll be pizza, doughnuts … we’ll sell it all.”

And so far, the people are definitely buying.

“Once we catch them, they continue to come back,” he says. “And we’re doing really well, and looking to expand. We hope we continue to do well enough to really consider that.”
